Kabir Bedi Gets The Highest Civilian Ranking In Italy Kabir Bedi |
Kabir Bedi, mostly known for taking tough roles will be awarded with Cavaliere (Knight), the highest civilian honor in Italy. He would be awarded with the title in a very special ceremony, organized by the Italian Consul General in Mumbai, Giampaolo Cutillo.
Cavaliere (Knight) of the`Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana`, is the highest title of rank attained by any civilian in Italy. The 64 years old actor has been associated to Italy since decades.
In the year 1976, it began with the success of his television series ‘Sandokan’, the story of a freedom fighting in which a man falls in love with an English girl.
The television series broke many records across Europe, and made Kabir a big name internationally. Since then, he has also starred in many other Italian TV series and films.
Elated to get awarded, the actor says, “It`s the perfect symbol of all the love that Italy has showered me with for decades, ever since I played the title role of the` Sandokan`TV series, continuing till today."
"But this is for a lifetime of work. Awards are valued by every actor, but this Knighthood is extra special for me as it comes from the Italian state.”
