James Cameron's 'Avatar' Faces Stiff Competition From Kathryn Bigelow's 'Hurt Locker' James Cameron |
Though ‘The Hurt Locker’ had to face some problems with the Academy initially due to co-producer Nicolas Chartier’s negative campaigning of 'Avatar', yet it manages to remain as the favorite contender for the Oscar, making things again difficult for James Cameron.
The tough competitor ‘Hurt Locker’ is poised to overcome sci-fi epic ‘Avatar’ at the Oscars as what has happened in the last few days is going to be too little and too late to affect the result according to voter analyst.
Scott Feinberg of thewinneris.com blog stated, "A lot of voters turned in their ballots pretty soon after they received them.I think what's happened in the last few days is going to be too little and too late to impact the result."
Recently the movie received a threat from the Academy to be barred from this year’s ceremony after catching sight of their negative campaigning in the e-mails of the co-producer of ‘Hurt Locker’ against rival ‘Avatar.’
Based on a bomb disposal squad ‘Hurt Locker’ movie received critical acclamation and emerged as a clear favorite with nine nominations for Oscars. The competition between ‘Hurt Locker’ and ‘Avatar’ was initiated by Cameron's ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow to pip him for the best director Oscar, which would make her the first woman in history to win the award.
The determined 58 year old ex-wife Bigelow added, "No matter what happens in the best picture race I don't think Kathryn Bigelow is going to be denied. It's too irresistible a story."
It seems Cameron competitor’s shadow is too powerful to be restrained from entering Oscar race.
