Team India's pace star Ishant Sharma is likely to miss the first one-day international of the upcoming India-New Zealand ODI series due to injury. The lanky fast bowler had hurt his shoulder while fielding in the second Twenty20 match against New Zealand at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington last night (27th February). On Saturday (28th February) an MRI scan carried out on his shoulder which revealed a bruise. The impact of falling on the ball is said to have aggravated an old injury.
Team India's administrative manager Niranjan Shah who is accompanying the Indian side said that, the MRI scan shows a bruise. He also told that team management would keep a watch on Ishant's fitness over next two days. However, Shah added that Ishant might miss the first ODI against New Zealand.
The five-match one-day series will begin from March 3 with the first contest at Napier. The other venues of the upcoming ODI series are: Wellington (Mar 6), Christchurch (Mar 8), Hamilton (Mar 11) and Auckland (Mar 14).
