According to sources, HTC Smart touchscreen handset could be launched in India by the end of March.
Though, there is common perception brewing over the public that this would be a dumbphone, yet the company has claimed it to be a smartphone for the masses.
The HTC Smart was first seen at the recently concluded CES and looks to integrate all of the necessary features except the Wi-Fi and GPS.
The HTC set sports a 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen display with features like GSM, HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, 3MP camera with flash, ExtUSB, 3.5mm headset jack and MicroSD card support.
HTC has also eyed in India’s large domestic market by planning an investment of about $1 million for the Smart's launch in India. It is also likely to compete with the famous Corbys, the Cookies and Nokia 5233 sets by offering the handsets under Rs. 10,000.
