Honda Motor Company has unveiled 1.2 litre petrol hatchback ‘Brio’ prototype at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2010 in Bangkok. The car would hit Indian roads in the next year, the company said.

Priced at around 4 lakh, the Brio would compete with compact cars, which has huge market in India.

Having been developed for the Asian market, the Brio model would be first launched in Thailand in March 2011. The company plans to bring the car to the Indian market next year.

Honda’s earlier release in the compact car segment, Jazz made average sales at 600 units per month. Now with the launch of Brio, the company aims to capture the booming small car segment in India.

“India is a very, very important market for Honda. Motorization in the country is happening at a rapid pace and Honda will like to participate in this with the start of Brio,” Honda Motor global president and CEO Takanobu said.

Honda Brio would be produced at Honda Siel Cars facility in Noida .
