Google along with a tie-up with HTC is planning for launching a tablet computer to compete with Apple’s iPad, sources said. The company is planning to bring the device for the holiday season.
Google is said to have joined hands with Taiwan-based HTC and US-based Verizon for the making and launch of its unnamed tablet.
The tablet would be based on Google's Chrome operating system and is widely expected to be launched in November this year when the holiday shopping season starts in the US.
It looks Google is keen on competing with Apple’s iPad tablet computer as the company is also planning to subsidize the price for its customers who buys the device through Verizon’s monthly plan.
However, neither of the companies has so far revealed any information about the product.
Apple’s iPad is a tablet computer launched in April 2010. It was a first device of its kind in the technology world. The product was highly successful as around three million pieces were sold in less than three months.
