Anurag Basu |
Anurag Basu is all set to direct a movie on his own turbulent life. Basu said that after telling stories about other people’s lives, it was about time to narrate story based on his own life.
He was diagnosed with acute leukaemia a few years ago. He has recovered from the illness. He said that limelight and glamour seemed useless and vulgar after what he has gone through in life. He ventured into film-making in 2006 after recovering from the illness with the movie ‘Gangster - A Love Story’. He followed it up with ‘Life In A... Metro’ in 2007. This movie was hugely accepted by the masses.
His next directorial work is the much talked about Hrithik Roshan and Mexican actress Barbara Mori starrer ‘Kites’, which will be released in Hindi as well as English. Basu is planning to work with Barbara again. The director is quite unhappy about the undue importance being given to the Hrithik-Barbara friendship.
He is of opinion that ‘Kites’ will not suffer because of the publicity. The hype will die down by the time the movie is ready to be released during Diwali. Basu intends to go global with ‘Kites’. When asked why Kangana Ranaut has been sidelined from the marketing of ‘Kites’, he said that at present he wanted to project the movie as Hrithik and Barbara’s story. Kangana’s part would come later. She is not the main lead in the film. After making ‘Kites’ for Rakesh Roshan, Basu is committed to make his next film with UTV.
