Olympic Gold Quest or OGQ is an initiative by Deepika Padukone’s dad, badminton player, Prakash Padukone and ace billiards player, Geet Sethi. The actress will be acting as the face of it; many other people from sports have taken an active part in it.
The purpose of setting such a foundation is to help out the deserving sportspersons to train for the 2012 London Olympics; the fund contributed in OGQ will be used to help out candidates in buying required things for them.
Though, Deepika is the face of OGQ, but she thinks that she can be even more than that, she also reveals the source of funds for the foundation.
The actress reveals, “The funds mainly come in from corporates like Ambanis who take huge interest in sports, I will decide on my role in OGQ after Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey releases.”
The movie has been released and now the actress would be giving more updates about this, apart from this, she also says that anyone can contribute in the fund, right from Rs 50 to Rs 100.
The actress adds, “It can be a simple amount of Rs 50 or Rs 100 per month, which is not much. But if the entire nation contributes, then it becomes a substantial amount. We have taken on sportspeople from various fields such as shooting, badminton, tennis and athletics. The money that will be collected will take care of these sports peoples' coaching, their equipment, uniform, clothes, dietary supplements, medical needs, shoes, etc.”
Even top sports personalities from India like Vishwanathan Anand, former hockey player Viren Rasquinha, and tennis player Leander Paes are also a part of it. In an event later this month, the foundation would be shared publically in a grand event.
