Claudia Schiffer Faces Criticism For Posing As Black Woman Claudia Schiffer |
Supermodel Claudia Schiffer is under fire of criticism after posing as a black woman for the cover of fashion magazine Stern Fotografie. The photograph which was taken by fashion designer and photographer Karl Lagerfeld appeared on the cover of German fashion magazine.
Schiffer, 39 donned a dark foundation and an African wig for a Dom Perignon advertising campaign two years ago. The images were posted to celebrate the magazine's 60th anniversary.
Shevelle Rhule, fashion editor of lifestyle magazine, ‘Pride’ quoted, "It shows poor taste and it's offensive. There are not enough women of colour featured in mainstream magazines. This just suggests you can counteract the problem by using white models.”
But, the representative of the model has claimed that the motive behind taking such pictures was not wrong as it was just to reflect different men's fantasies.
"The pictures have been taken out of context. The images were designed to reflect different men's fantasies. The pictures were not intended to offend, they were done very creatively and they are some of Karl Lagerfeld's favourite images of Claudia. People should not jump to conclusions," model’s spokesperson said.
