Singer-turned-actress Chritsina Aguilera has made her big screen debut but admits that she was wary of trying her luck in movies after witnessing the unsuccessful stories of pop stars on silver screen.
The ‘Dirty’ hitmaker is staring in recently released contemporary musical film Burlesque, directed and written by Steven Antin. It also stars Cher and Kristen Bell in pivotal roles.
In Burlesque, Aguilera is portraying the role of Alice Marilyn ‘Ali’ Rose, a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship to follow her dreams in Los Angeles.
The 29-year old singer revealed that she was receiving movie offers from a long time but after seeing failures of Britney Spears in ‘Crossroads’ and Mariah Carey in ‘Glitter’ at the box office, she decided to take her own time.
"You`ve heard a lot of horror stories. And a lot of people don`t make successful crossovers. That`s why I think I also just really took my time in choosing the right thing and not just saying, `Hey, let me try this just to do it and say I did it`. If you don`t, I think the work would suffer and then you`d get written off as just another one trying to do something they can`t do," she said.
