With more players entering the tablet computer market, the BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) is set to launch its tablet computers in coming months. The company has entered into a tie up with Sprint Nextel Corp to carry its PlayBook tablet computer.

The company will be launching a Wi-Fi-only version of its PlayBook for the US markets priced at around $500. Sprint, however, will launch the company’s 4G technology at later stages, according to sources.

It is being reported that the Sprint or wireless version of the tablet may not appear before summer.

The BlackBerry-fame Research In Motion unveiled its first PlayBook tablet computer on September 27, 2010. With 7 inches wide touch-screen, the tablet offers 1024x600 resolution and has 1080p HD video playback. The device comes with a 3 mega pixels camera at front to enable video calling and a 5 mega pixels at the rear side.

While smartphones ruled the technology industry in 2010, the year 2011 is seen as the year of tablet computer with the market expected to touch a 55 million mark.
