Amazon has launched its latest e-book reader, Kindle DX in international markets. It is the second text reading wireless product meant for reading digital versions of textbooks, magazines and news papers. Amazon’s Kindle was released globally in October 2009.

The Kindle DX would be available for $489 (Rs. 23,500 approx.) in India, which is $111 more than the Kindle price. However, the customers have to bear the cost of transport and taxes as extra cost.

Kindle DX e-book reader sports a 9.7-inch E-Ink display with 16 shades of gray colour to adjust. There are also six text sizes offered from which a user can adjust. The set has also a built-in 3G wireless connection for downloading content from the 3G networks.

The other features in this e-book reader include the native PDF reader, auto-screen rotation and option to add annotations to text. Users can also highlight and clip key passages for later reading. The set also provides enough storage of up to 4GB that can store up to 3500 books. Whispersync technology also provides auto-syncs feature to make this device compatible with PCs or iPhones.

Additionally, the Kindle DX has the text-to-speech feature which converts the text content on the page to words. So, this type of switching saves time for the reader. The New Oxford American Dictionary and Wikipedia are also incorporated for the benefit of the users.

Amazon Kindle DX to be shipped worldwide from January 19 onwards.
