‘Aakrosh’ Gets ‘A’ Certificate Ajay Devgan, Bipasha Basu |
Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu starrer ‘Aakrosh’ is going to release this Friday with an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board. The movie got the certificate as it is based on the sensitive issue of ‘honor killings’ in India.
Unperturbed by the fact, producer of the movie, Kumar says, “Aakrosh wasn't designed as a kiddies flick in any case. This is a dramatic affair and inspired by true events that have been rocking the nation for a few years now. Honor killing is a serious issue and we want the adults in the country to wake up to this fact.”
When the movie was presented before the Censor Board, the authorities asked for many deductions of scenes from the movie because of the subject matter and the political violence coupled with raw language.
Kumar adds further, “They wanted us to make more than a dozen odd cuts due to these factors. If we would have consented to that, Aakrosh would have got a U/A certificate.”
Since the deductions from this Priyadarshan directed film will lead ultimately to a flavorless and sugar coated film, so the film makers didn’t agree on it.
Kumar ends saying, “However, we couldn't agree on this. If we would have introduced those cuts, the core essence of the film would have been lost. The purpose of making this film was to expose the harsh reality of our society rather than delivering a sugar coated feel good message.”
