For a long time digital camera manufacturers have struggled with giving their users a better way to click pictures in the dark. Most users are, indeed tired of using the flash unit to illuminate pictures, which also results in unnatural pictures which look flat and two dimensional. Increasing the ISO rating would only result in increased noise, so what does the average user do in such a case? Sony seems to have the answer to this question, in the form of the “Exmor R” back-illuminated CMOS sensor. This sensor is incorporated primarily to assist in taking better shots at night, and Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1/B comes equipped with it. The Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1/B is a 10.2mp and 5x wide angle optical zoom point and shoot camera.
Design and FunctioningThe WX1 is a minimalist and slender camera, measuring less than 2cms at its narrowest point and weighing less than 150g with the battery and memory card fitted, with a 2.7-inch LCD screen at the rear. Making its preferences clear, the Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1/B makes itself available only in the conventional black colour. Encouraging users to take pictures even in low light, without the use of flash, this camera provides the Exmor R CMOS sensor, which compensates for low light by boosting sensitivity upto two times to capture better pictures at night. Sony’s iAuto mode thinks for the user, recognizing scenes, lighting conditions, and faces, and adjusts settings resulting in clear images, faces with natural skin tone, and less blur. It comes with 24mm to 120mm wide angle optical zoom to help take better landscape pictures. Coupled with the wide angle zoom, its Sweep Panorama Mode reaches beyond the traditional wide angle lenses, to let the user capture expansive, breathtaking shots of landscapes or skyscrapers. Motion Detection, along with Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when movement is detected, reducing blur in moving subjects and faces. It contains 11MB of internal memory and is compatible with Memory Stick Duo/Pro Duo/ Pro HG Duo.
