Self portraits are the trickiest to click; notwithstanding the click-and-delete sort of freedom that digital cameras brought along with them. Since we tend to use only one of our hands to click, and hold the camera so close to our faces, there always is the imminent possibility of a shake of the hand spoiling the image. Perhaps Samsung predicted this possibility, which is why it came up with its ‘2view’ cameras, which let the user see as to exactly how they look while clicking. Joining this signatory Samsung battalion as a new entrant, is the Samsung TL225, which is essentially a 12mp and wide angle 4.6x zoom compact point and shoot camera.
Design and FunctioningConstructed out of robust plastic with a glossy finish on the front and matt on the back, completed by shiny orange detailing on our serious black review model, the Samsung ST550 is a very stylish and quite slim compact camera. Also positioned on the front of the camera is the headline-grabbing secondary LCD screen, which is 1.5 inches in size. Virtually un-noticeable when not in use, this provides an intuitive way of taking better self-portraits. The ST550 incorporates some very clever touch-screen technology, with virtually all of the camera's functions activated and controlled via its LCD. There's also a 'Dual IS' mode, which offers both optical image stabilization and the ISO boosting digital variety. Also, the camera comes with Samsung’s Smart Auto feature, which analyzes key elements of the frame, such as composition, color, brightness, motion and subject; then automatically adjusts to take the perfect shot. It chooses from a total of 16 preset modes. Its Perfect Portrait mode can also help reduce blemishes and softly highlights details in people’s faces, to render better portraits. Compatible with Micro SD/Micro SDHC cards, this camera contains about 55MB of internal memory.
