Though many who purchase digital cameras know nothing about how a camera works, they still want it all. They are never satisfied with what is offered and would like more to be included to the camera they purchase. They see their neighbours with larger and more complex cameras and would demand the same from the manufacturers they endorse, much like a child demanding a toy that his friend has. Perhaps Panasonic sensed this and came up with the hugely successful Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38, which was a bridge as well as superzoom camera. Its diverse functions helped it gain popularity, which allowed much more control into the hands of the user than most compact cameras offer. Now, it brings out the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45, the successor of FZ38, which also built on the same lines; it is a 14.1mp and 24x wide angle optical zoom camera.
Design and FunctioningThe Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45 shares a lot in common in terms of its external design with its popular predecessor, the FZ38, with a few key improvements that make an already very capable camera even better. With zoom capacity of 24x and wide angle focal length of 25mm to 600mm, one can not only click extreme close ups of tiny things, but also wide landscapes of picturesque places. Furthermore, the Extra Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 50.6x by using the center part of the large CCD to bring subjects even closer. Panasonic's effective Power O.I.S (Optical Image Stabilization) is on-board to help combat any unwanted camera shake that the user might experience. Like a well meaning DSLR, the DMC-FZ45 features a Creative Movie Mode, which lets the user set the shutter speed and aperture manually to make even more impressive movies. Motion image recording can be started by pressing a dedicated button on the top of the camera. With the Intelligent Resolution technology, 3 areas - outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas are automatically detected. The outline parts are enhanced effectively to give edges more clearness while giving a moderate accentuation to the texture areas to look more finely detailed. To the soft gradation part, superior noise reduction process of the Venus Engine HD II is applied to make it smoother. This camera includes 40MB of internal memory and is compatible with SD/SDHC/SDXC cards.
