An old adage in Hindi states that while the dogs keep barking loudly, the elephant walks his path unfazed. This adage hold true for no other camera manufacturer as Panasonic, which is known as the silent assassin, killing competition with nothing except quality products which can be trusted – least of all with aggressive advertisement or all the hanky-panky that comes with it. With the same professional reticence, Panasonic brings forward its Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100, which is a superzoom camera that intends to take over the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38. This 14mp and 24x wide angle optical zoom camera comes with some very impressive as well as some signatory Panasonic features.
Design and FunctioningThe Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 shares a lot in common in terms of its external design with its popular predecessor, the FZ38, with a few key improvements that make an already very capable camera even better. The FZ100 looks to all intents and purposes just like a proper DSLR camera, albeit one with a fixed lens and an electronic viewfinder. Panasonic's effective Power O.I.S (Optical Image Stabilization) is again on-board to help combat any unwanted camera shake, although the user might still need to use either a fast shutter speed or a tripod at the telephoto end of that massive zoom. Face Recognition is a fun and genuinely useful new feature which "remembers" up to 6 registered faces and then always prioritizes the focus and exposure for that person in future pictures. Intelligent Auto functionality comes with one new mode known as the Motion Deblur mode, an automatic combination of Intelligent ISO Control and Intelligent Exposure. The Creative Movie shooting mode allows the user to set the shutter speed, aperture or both settings manually during recording. Its new image processing LSI the Venus Engine FHD assures high picture quality in both photo and movie recording. It comes with 40MB of internal memory as is compatible with SD/SDHC/SHXC cards.
