True lovers of photography, most of who wouldn’t go through life without at least one DSLR of their own, wouldn’t forget how much appreciation D90 gathered when it was introduced to the markets. Brought out in late 2008, Nikon’s much loved and widely invested-in D90 is touted as the most befitting replacement for the much adored D80. It was one of the most awaited DSLRs, belonging to the affordable range. Some of its features are those of D80, while the manufacturers seem to have made some major advancement in case of D90. The D90’s CMOS sensor comes with a resolution of 12.3mp and comes with a dedicated movie mode.
Design and FunctioningPhotographers who own or have at least handled a Nikon D80 will instantly feel at home with the D90, as the new camera has the exact same dimensions and almost the same shape as its predecessor. One area of photography that the D90 is particularly well suited to is flash photography. The camera has a built-in speedlight with a guide number of 17 (in metres) at ISO 200. Doing away with the CCD of the D80, Nikon has equipped the D90 with a 12.3mp CMOS sensor. Coupled with Nikon's EXPEED image processing technologies and NIKKOR optics, breathtaking image fidelity is assured. Being the world’s first HD movie recording DSLR, this camera allows the user to record exceptional 24fps movie clips with sound at up to 720p HD (1280 x 720 pixels) in Motion JPEG format, enhanced by NIKKOR interchangeable lens quality and versatility. For those who can’t wait to play with the images they have clicked, there are in-camera image editing, featuring Fisheye effect, Straighten and Distortion Control as well as D-Lighting, Red-eye Reduction, Image Overlay, Monochrome and more. For better control over exposure, the Nikon D90 offers five advanced scene modes apart from Program Auto, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority and Manual modes. This camera is compatible with SD/SDHC cards.
