When making compact cameras, a lot of thought is being put to make the consumers’ photography experience as real and wonderful as possible, without compromising on ease. Compact cameras too are becoming just as utilitarian as SLRs and many of them come with specifications that match the level of an SLR; which is exactly what could be said of the Nikon COOLPIX S640. This 12mp camera which comes with a zoom range of 5x is claimed by Nikon to be the fastest focusing compact camera.
Design and FunctioningEasily fitting into one’s palm and weighting hardly a hundred grams, this camera may look like any run of the mill, slim compact camera. The Nikon COOLPIX S640 comes in colours as impressive as Plum Red, Baby Pink, Metallic Silver and Midnight Black. Nikon claims to have equipped this camera with a white balancing system that is used for their SLRs. It responds to a maximum ISO rating of 6400 and is supposed to have the highest focusing speed ever shown by any compact camera. It also takes 7/10th of a second of startup time, a very low value as compared to compact cameras. It comes with Nikon’s signatory 4-way VR Image Stabilization function; this function makes the pictures immune to shake, blur or any other form of disturbance using Optical Lens Shift technique, Motion Detection function, by upping the ISO of the camera and by the Best Shot Selector function.
