Superzoom and Ultra Zoom cameras have suddenly begun to enjoy the status that they never did a decade ago. A lot of effort is being put by manufacturers to come up with better super zoom cameras to enable them to mirror the features of an SLR camera. In fact, established companies like Canon and Nikon are also joining the bandwagon with super zoom cameras that come with their signatory features. For instance, Nikon first came with P80 in mid 2007, then P90 in late 2008 and now comes with the P100, which aims to earn the same bouquets as its two predecessors. This 10.3 mp camera also comes with a zoom range of 26x, much like its predecessor.
Design and FunctioningSimilar in design to the Nikon P90, this one is also available in Blood Red colour, because, as they must have thought of, common consumers may not accept cameras that don’t look like there are made for them. It is rather light at less than half a kilogram of weight. Equipped with an incredible 26x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, this camera supports shooting at a broad range of focal lengths with 35mm format equivalent angles of view of 26mm up to 678mm. It is equipped with a CMOS sensor with backside illumination structure that increases the amount of light that each pixel receives. The camera is equipped with a vari-angle monitor that improves operation and increases flexibility with shooting from conventionally difficult angles. The monitor can be tilted 82 degrees downward and 90 degrees upward for simpler shooting from a variety of angles. It contains internal memory of 43MB and is compatible with SD/SDHC cards.
