Canon’s PowerShot range of compact cameras – especially point and shoot types – have reaped praise from each side for their user friendliness, simplicity of operation and great designs. This new IS model features a number of significant advancements, including improved low-light performance due to the combination of optical IS and a top ISO speed of 1600, and for the first time in the Digital ELPH series, an optical 3.8x wide range zoom lens (28-105mm equivalent), which employs Canon's UA lens technology that permits a longer zoom capability in a smaller amount of space. Its DIGIC III technology also empowers new Face Detection AF/AE, which finds all the faces in the frame and sets the most suitable focus point, when the shutter button is pressed half-way. Its Photo Effects feature lets the user give some special effects on pictures clicked – its modes include Vivid, Vivid Blue, Vivid Green, Vivid Red, Neutral, Sepia, Black & White, Positive Film, Lighter Skin Tone, and Darker. For recording video and audio, and play it back too, this camera provides built in microphones and speakers. It comes along with a 16MB card is compatible with SD/SDHC as well as MMC cards.
