Let us be honest – how often do we find gadgets that work just as hard as they look good? One of the very few examples people quote is that of Rolls Royce. People have, in fact, stopped expecting both these from one single commodity or gadget; until Canon PowerShot SD550 came into the picture. This camera, belonging to the line of Canon’s ultra compact ELPH cameras, is a small yet sturdy camera. It is a 7.1mp and 3x optical zoom camera.
Design and FunctioningWith its distinctive "Perpetual Curve" design, stylish all-metal body and superb overall finish, the Canon PowerShot looks like it really knows which section of consumer base it should aim at – youngsters and first time digital camera users. Because of the curve on the right side, this camera is very comfortable to hold, despite being quite a small camera. It has relatively few external controls, just 9 in total, reflecting the fact that this is after all a point and shoot camera in functionality terms. But what comes as a surprise, is the fact that it comes with a Manual setting, which gives the user access to more "advanced" features, like setting the ISO speed and White Balance. Color Accent allows the user to select one colour and render the rest of the image in black and white, whilst Color Swap lets the user select a colour in the image and change it for another completely different one. Its nine shooting modes include Auto, Kids and Pets, Indoor, Beach, Portrait, Digital Macro, Stitch Assist, Beach, Fireworks and many more. It comes along with 32MB memory card and is compatible with SD cards.
