Those who know the stuff about cameras will also know that Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras together rule a large chunk of the digital imaging market. Canon, in fact, has left behind many of its competitors to become the most sought after brand in imaging. No other camera had been looked forward to as the Canon PowerShot S2 IS when this immensely popular superzoom camera was introduced in the market about six years ago, it quickly made its way to the most popular cameras searched for in the internet or even asked for at retail stores. The Canon PowerShot S2 IS comes across as a superzoom camera with a resolution of 5mp and a whopping 12x optical zoom.
Design and FunctioningFor a superzoom camera, the Canon PowerShot S2 IS boasts of a more fluid and easy design as compared to the others of its genre, which are often tough and sturdy. Of course, this isn’t to mean that the camera is not too tough. Also, apart from the usual Black or Gun Metal Grey colour that most cameras of this genre sport, this camera comes in a Metallic Silver colour. The Canon S2 IS uses the same DIGIC II processor found in Canon’s DLSR cameras and also incorporates optical Image Stabilizer technology. The S2 IS can shoot continually and uninterrupted at 2.4 fps until the memory card becomes full. The PowerShot S2 IS also features a variable-angle 1.8 inch LCD screen. By positioning the vari-angle LCD monitor appropriately, the user is free to compose shots, even self portraits, without having to move or twist into uncomfortable positions. Users will enjoy the flexibility of a full array of exposure control settings similar to SLR models, including Program, Shutter and Aperture-priority AE modes, and Manual Mode. In addition, there are 18 Shooting Modes including six Special Scene Modes, which are Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Indoor and Night Snapshots, for optimum results in certain shooting situations. This camera is compatible with SD cards.
